To Congress Delegates,

It is a pleasure to write a welcome statement in celebration of the WCPT Asia Western Pacific Congress hosted by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists in the wonderful city of Mumbai.

The Capists we share an equal responsibility to use our unique skills wisely to educate our population about preventive health, to provide physical rehabilitation and work towards optimising health for all.

India is an ideal location for the Congress - it is relatively central and thus should be an easy venue for representatives from all of our member countries whether they live in the Middle East or the far East, below of above the equator, to be able to attend. India is country of diverse cultures, fascinating history and is the world's largests democracy. It is also a country that is prone to natural disasters. Hopefully the knowledge and experience that we share with colleagues at this Congress will help us to develop clear guidelines for our role in natural disasters, particularly in the physical rehabilition of the victims.
