Dear Colleagues, As President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, and Organizing Secretary of the 4th AWP regional conference of WCPT, to be held in January 2009, in Mumbai it is our privilege to extend a warm welcome to all physiotherapists from India and all over the world, and especially from our region. The theme for the conference is "Physiotherapy in Service Of Global Health And Disease". Conferences are essential for the survival of the profession. The Asia West Pacific region is a diverse region of countries with different cultures and this congress, we are sure, will bring about greater understanding and increased co-operation amongst its members. Mumbai is a lovely natural harbour on the Arabian Sea &. is India's business capital, a center of finance, the arts, cinema, fashion and the most efficient metropolis of high contradictions and ever widening polarities It represents a fusion of competitive ethos, Indian culture and International choice. Our scientific Committee is putting up an exciting program to cater to all. Several Workshops, by eminent international faculty, are offered. Besides, other professional issues will be addressed at Debates and Panel discussions. This Congress will be a great occasion to share knowledge, on clinical as well as professional issues confronting Physiotherapists of our region, as perceived at present. A trade exhibition is also organized to showcase products from India and all over the region. We once again invite you to the birthplace of Physiotherapy in India from 22nd to 25th Jan. 2009. We look forward to a large gathering of professionals from all over India, and countries from our region and also from all over the world to come together in friendship, harmony and experience the warmth of Indian hospitality.
